Cosmetic chemists longing for a black pearl effect pigment can now use SunShine Mystic Black, a new black pearlescent effect pigment from Sun Chemical that can be used to create beautifully bold formulations for lipsticks, mascara, eyeliners, eyeshadows and nail lacquers. Optimized to achieve a unique combination of jetness, coverage, sparkle and luster, SunShine Mystic Black pigment is based on synthetic mica, which provides a soft skin feel and high color purity compared to natural mica. The effect can be easily incorporated into a variety of applications and has broad global regulatory compliance. “Cosmetic formulators are continually looking to expand their palette of colors in order to bring innovative products to life and perhaps the most requested effect pigment is a black pearl,” said Kelly Dobos, cosmetics technical manager. “We’re excited to offer our customers this innovative new product which achieves a true black that is unmatched in the market.” SunShine Mystic Black joins Sun Chemical’s SunShine family of pure synthetic mica-based pearlescent pigment colors ranging from silver and gold metallic effects to bright, sparkling accents in green and blue. SunShine pigments provide some of the lowest residual heavy metals levels available in the market, and their transparency, luster, chroma, broad range of particle sizes, and smoothness make them ideally suited for use in all finished product formulations.
